The freshman made six saves in EKU’s 1-0 shutout of Kentucky on Sunday.
BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – For the second straight week, Eastern Kentucky University freshman Zoe Aguirre has been voted the Ohio Valley Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Aguirre played a huge role in EKU’s 1-0 shutout victory at Kentucky on Sunday. She made six saves, including four in the final 20 minutes of play, to earn the second clean sheet of her young career.
Her performance led the Colonels to their first-ever victory over the neighboring Wildcats.
Aguirre – a native of Corona, California – made eight saves, in total, last week.
EKU (4-2-0) has now won four of its last five matches. The Colonels will travel Gardner-Webb (Friday) and Louisville (Sunday) this upcoming weekend.
