The schedule includes a Thanksgiving trip to the Bahamas
RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University Women’s Basketball team unveils 2018-19 Schedule which is highlighted by a foreign trip to Bimini, Bahamas.
The squad will open its season in McBrayer Arena on November 9th when it welcomes in Saint Louis. The Billikens finished the 2017-18 season a game above .500, 17-16, with a 9-7 mark in Atlantic 10 Conference play and a trip to the Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT).
The Colonels will then travel to Ohio to take on Miami (Ohio) University on November 13 and Ohio University on November 18.
The Redhawks ended last season with a 21-11 overall mark and a 12-6 mark in Mid-American Conference action. The Bobcats also finished above .500 last season with a 16-15 record.
EKU will take a Thanksgiving trip to the Junkanoo Jam at Resorts World Bimini in the Bahamas November 22-24. Florida State, West Virginia and Iowa are in the Colonels’ division.
Trips to Western Michigan, Akron and West Virginia and home contests against Kentucky Christian, George Mason and Brescia will wrap up the non-conference slate.
The Colonels open the Ohio Valley Conference portion of the schedule with two weekends on the road; taking on Austin Peay and Murray State in the first and Tennessee State and Belmont in the second.
EKU welcomes in its first league opponents of the year on January 17 and 19 in the University of Tennessee at Martin and Southeast Missouri State, respectively.
Due to Eastern Kentucky University hosting the All “A” Classic boys and girls basketball tournaments the week of January 21st, the EKU men’s and women’s basketball teams will play two games at regional sites that week. The Colonels will host Jacksonville State University on January 24 at Berea College. The teams will host Tennessee Tech on January 26 at Georgetown College.
Two more road contests will close out January and open February at Eastern Illinois on January 31 and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville on February 2.
The Colonels will then kick-off a three-game home stint bringing in Belmont on February 7, Tennessee State on February 9 and Murray State on February 14.
Three more away games will finish the road portion of the schedule at Morehead State on February 16, Tennessee Tech on February 21 and Jacksonville State on February 23.
Eastern Kentucky will close out the regular season with a pair of home contests on February 28 and March 2 against Austin Peay and Morehead State, respectively.
The 2019 OVC Women’s Basketball Tournament is scheduled for March 3-9 in Evansville, Indiana.
The 2018-19 women’s basketball roster features one junior college transfer, four freshmen and nine returners – including seniors Abby Wright, Joya Smith and Madison Pierce.
