Two Colonels earned spots in their respected National Championship events in the NCAA Track and Field tournament.

Soufiane Bouchiki ended his Eastern Kentucky career with a 15th place finish in the 5,000 meters even. Bouchiki finished the race with a time of 14:04.48.

Bouchiki defeated runners from Arkansas, Indiana, Oklahoma State and Virginia Tech.

Bouchiki was named second team All-American after the race, his sixth All-American award as a Colonel.

Junior Ole Hesselbjerg finished third in the 3,000 meter steeplechase national championship.  After the spectacular finish Hesselbjerg was named first team All-American for a second straight year.

Hesselbjerg finished the race with a time of 8:38.75.

Anthony Rotich of UTEP won the race with a time of 8:32.21.

Ole Hesselbjerg is the first Colonel NCAA track medalist since Jacob Korir finished second in the indoor 5,000 meters in 2008!

Hesselbjerg beat runners from schools such as Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Louisville and Virginia.
