Soccer to Host OVC Tournament Game for First Time Ever this Weekend

For the first time ever, the EKU soccer team will host an Ohio Valley Conference Tournament game this weekend.

RICHMOND, Ky. – For the first time ever, the Eastern Kentucky University soccer team will host an Ohio Valley Conference Tournament game this weekend.

No. 3 EKU will play a quarterfinal match against the winner of No. 6 UT Martin / No. 7 SIUE on Sunday, October 29, at EKU Soccer Field. First touch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. ET.

The first-round UT Martin / SIUE game will also be played at EKU Soccer Field on Friday, October 27 at 2:00 p.m.

For the first time in league history, the OVC Tournament has expanded to eight teams in 2017. The No. 3 and No. 4 seeds host first-round and quarterfinals games this weekend. The semifinals (Friday, November 3) and championship game (Sunday, November 5) will be played at the home field of No. 1 seed Murray State.

This marks EKU’s seventh appearance in the OVC Tournament and its second appearance as the No. 3 seed (2012).

The Colonels advanced to OVC championship game for the first time ever last season as the No. 2 seed.

If EKU wins on Sunday, it will face No. 2 Tennessee Tech in the semifinals on Friday, November 3, at 12:00 p.m. ET in Murray, Kentucky.

The entire OVC Tournament will be streamed live on the OVC Digital Network.

Admission is FREE to both games this weekend.
