The Ole Miss transfer was chosen as the OVC Women’s Basketball Newcomer of the Week.

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Eastern Kentucky University junior guard A’Queen Hayes was chosen as the Ohio Valley Conference Women’s Basketball Newcomer of the Week, the league announced from its Brentwood, Tennessee headquarters.

In two games last week, Hayes was tied on the team in scoring (18.5 ppg) and was second on the team in rebounds (7.5 rpg) while shooting 51 percent from the field.

Hayes scored a career-high 23 points on 10-of-16 shooting in the Colonels 70-59 home-opening win against UNC Greensboro on Saturday. The Ole Miss transfer also dished out a career-high six assists and grabbed six rebounds.

In Eastern’s 62-59 win over Western Carolina on Nov. 15, the redshirt junior scored 14 points and pulled down a career-high nine rebounds.

The Colonels will be action tomorrow when they travel to take on the Akron Zips. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
