RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky will play nine games in 2015-16 against teams that advanced to the postseason last season, including five games against NCAA Tournament teams.

Eastern’s schedule includes 11 games against teams that posted a winning record a year ago and 12 games against squads that had winning records in their conference.

Four-game series with Western Kentucky, Manhattan College and North Carolina Wilmington have previously been announced as well as a single against the University of Kentucky.

“We are really excited about our schedule in year one for the new-look Colonels,” McHale said. “We will be tested early and often, and I am excited about that. I am excited to show our brand of basketball to the Commonwealth and playing such great opponents will prepare my team for OVC play come the New Year.”

The Colonels will get play an exhibition game against Union College on Nov. 8 before opening the season at home against Coppin State on Nov. 13. After a road game at UNC Wilmington on Nov. 16, Eastern will host the six-game @EKUHoops Classic. The three other teams will be Ball State, Longwood and South Carolina State. The Colonels will face Ball State on Nov. 20, South Carolina State on Nov. 21 and Longwood on Nov. 22.

EKU will close out the month of November with home games against Thomas More and Southern Utah.

Eastern Kentucky will play eight games in December, six of which will be on the road, including at Western Kentucky on Dec. 1, at Kentucky on Dec. 9, at Marshall on Dec. 12 and at West Virginia on Dec. 21. The Colonels will play host to Florida Atlantic on Dec. 15 and close out the calendar year in McBrayer Arena against Manhattan on the 29th.

Kentucky, West Virginia and Manhattan each played in the NCAA Tournament last season along with conference foe Belmont.

EKU begins Ohio Valley Conference play on Jan. 2 at Austin Peay. The first home conference game comes on Jan. 7 against Tennessee-Martin, the team that ended Eastern’s 2014-15 season on a last-second three-pointer in the quarterfinals of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT).

The Colonels will host rivals Murray State (Jan. 27) and Morehead State (Jan. 30) in back-to-back games at the end of January. The final home games of the regular season will be on Feb. 13 against Tennessee State and Feb. 18 against Belmont. Eastern concludes the regular season on the road at Jacksonville State and Tennessee Tech.

Non-conference opponent UNC Wilmington and league foes Tennessee-Martin and Eastern Illinois played in last year’s CIT. Murray State advanced to the quarterfinals of the NIT.

The 2016 OVC Tournament is slated for March 2-5 in Nashville.
