BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – After scoring 11 of Eastern’s 23 points in its win over Southeast Missouri on Saturday, Samuel Hayworth was chosen as the Ohio Valley Conference Specialist of the Week.

Hayworth, a 5-foot-11 redshirt junior, hit all three of his field goal attempts, including two from a career-best 41 yards out. Both of his long field goals came in the fourth quarter and allowed EKU to turn a three-point lead into a nine-point advantage. The second put the game out of reach with 1:05 left to play.
The Ormond Beach, Florida native also kicked off six times with one touchback. He averaged 52 yards on his kickoffs. Before Saturday, Hayworth’s longest field goal was a 38-yarder against Morehead State in the season-opener.
Hayworth was selected as the OVC Co-Specialist of the Week on Sept. 2.
The Eastern Kentucky University football program features the “Best Tradition In FCS Football”, having won two national championships, 21 conference titles and made 21 playoff appearances. No other FCS team has won at least two FCS national titles and 20 or more conference championships. EKU has had 66 All-America selections and 33 NFL draft picks.
