Not specific to basketball, but an interesting read on a sign of our times.

I'll check out the rest of that article when I have a bit of time, but I noticed one error right of the bat. The UC soccer cut was not COVID related according to everything else I've read.

That’s not surprising. I just heard that because of the financial fallout of the coronavirus pandemic both the University of Louisville, and the University of Kentucky, are reducing numbers of staff and faculty and/or giving pay cuts.

One of the more interesting lines from the article is this;

“Universities and their highly competitive and profitable football programs are holding on to hope that the 2020-21 season will be played in some form or fashion. If not, $4.1 billion, an average of $78 million per institution, will be at risk”

There are consequences to driving the proverbial bus off of the fiscal cliff. Far reaching and painful ones at that. We ain’t seen nuttin’ yet kids.
