8:00 left and it’s just a 10-point game. The defense has dictated the pace they wanted, but just haven’t converted on the offensive end. Can they break through by hitting some shots down the stretch and steal this one???

How about just hitting some foul shots to crawl back into this?

Currently shooting 12.5 % from three and 29% overall, tough to win with that.

If we can progress as much in year three as we did in year two from year one we’ll be ok. We went a tournament drought to a first round bye and a win. That’s progress.

Nothing surprising tonight. Belmont is just a better fundamentally sound and well coached team than we are right now: Belmont has an established program and we are still in the process of trying to rebuild after the McHale era.

Still proud of the way this team fought all season. December 31 this team was plummeting towards rock bottom and one of the worst seasons in school history. They kept fighting and grinding and did not give up and found away to get in the conference tournament and win a game. Some of that was the bottom half of the OVC being bad but a lot of that was this team refusing to quit and keep fighting. A lot of teams would have quit after such a terrible non conference.

Next season looks very bright. We potentially could have three of the top 15/20 players in the OVC next season. Brown and King are probably already there and with a good offseason Moreno could be in that group too. Next year this team should be right in the mix to win the conference championship.

We certainly need to improve our offense next season to be a contender. It was the biggest thing that held us back this year and the reason we had so many poor shooting nights. Just way too many ugly possessions. We would have so many possessions where we had poor ball movement and relied heavily on ball screens and ended up taking bad three point shots or contested shots. It will help if we can find a true PG. Hobbs did ok but we really needed to find a true PG coming into this season and was disappointed AW did not bring one in. We need that leader at the PG position that can take control of the offensive and be the coach on the floor. Maybe Hobbs can develop into it, maybe Green will be ready to lead as a freshman or hopefully we can find one to transfer in but we badly need one next season. If we run the same garbage offense next year as we did this year, we will have another up and down year and fail to live up to the potential this team has. Also, we have to improve our rebounding. It’s hard to win when you are consistently getting out rebounded almost every night.

Defensively we were solid this season. We had some lapses and gave up easy baskets throughout the season but after being really terrible defensively under McHale we have at least become a solid defensive team.

Brown has a chance to be the best player in the OVC next season. He already might have the most talent but all the bad turnovers and forced shots keeps him from being the best. There is not a defender in the OVC that can consistently stay in front of him off the bounce. If he learns to play under control and learns to pass the ball when he drives into double and triple teams, there no reason he could not average around 20 points and 5 or 6 assist a game next season. Would have like to seen AW bench him more this season especially earlier in the season when he was really bad. Hopefully AW is hard on him in the offseason and gets him to reach his potential. Really need to work on him driving in and throwing it up to King or kicking it out.

Hopefully we see a big improvement from Moreno next year. The potential is there. He needs to get a little more explosive off of the bounce and in the paint but I am sure a full off-season of not having to rehab will certainly help in that area. We know he can shot and if he can just beat some guys off the bounce and score some more in the paint, he could have a big year next season.

We had four guys transfer after last season so hopefully almost everyone sticks around this year. It will be nice to get HK’s shooting back. I am not sure what to expect of Broughton next season. He did not offer much last season and after missing all of this year, he may not be able to offer much but if he can ever live up to his potential he had coming out of high school, it would be a nice addition to the bench. Hicks was struggling early in the year and had no jump shot but it will nice to have another big body to throw in the paint.

Finally thanks to Anderson on a solid four years. He was never the most talented guy but he always played hard and was a good teammate. He got a little better every year and had some good moments this year. Hopefully he has success in whatever he does next.

I think playing last night was a big part of the bad shooting tonight.

Great turnaround year, looking forward to next season. Belmont is a dang good basketball team and we had a cold shooting night, not a good combo. Kids are still playing hard,

Well, we have a basketball team for the first time in a long time. They have skills, and a coach that has in a very short period of time sculpted young men into a coherent, never quite team. Colonel Basketball is once again a Matter Of Pride.
Go Colonels!

AW said there's a chance EKU will be invited to one of the two non-NIT post-season tourneys...and would likely accept.

That would be great, let them keep playing and practicing, plus would give seniors at least one more game
