Starts off saying it's too early to see if Idaho made a good move or bad move but they know they lost even more money after big donors stopped giving.

Uconn the gamble paid off staying in FBS plus they host P5 schools.

Schools that do move down are forfeiting tv money, bowl money, even bigger conference money. However, they could save on travel, get big money games, and save on scholarships.

FCS is, and always has been, a tremendous source of talent that has made the jump to the NFL. While it’s obvious that certain conferences in the P5 will always be tremendous money makers and pay the bills for their athletic departments, I think the most important thing to look at is, if you are a HS FB recruit and want a high quality education as well as the potential to make the NFL jump, FCS is a great move. The number of Colonels who have made the NFL is an eye opener, and I think that actually deserves a thread of its own. I personally know at least 5, and know of many more.

It's not about if a player can make the NFL but about money.

For EKU I think the right Fbs conference would work.....MAC or Sunbelt......I have always thought the MAC would work well for us with 4 schools in Ohio and Ball State in Indiana.....good rivalry and not so bad travel.....plus we would be the southern most school.

My point was, that players don’t have to hold out in hopes of landing a FBS offer, they can still come to FCS (and make money with an NFL career potentially). For schools, I agree, it’s all about the money. That being said, FCS schools with scholarship concerns are still a very attractive option for those tweeners. It will just potentially make some FCS schools look harder at someone before making a committable offer.
