Re: Playoffs

...there's no money to be made playing in front of what will be even thinner crowds than we've bemoaned in years past. Sadly, it's getting to the "give up the ghost" point for all but the P5 conference members. I truly hate it for the Richmond business community that counts on revenue from game day ...

Re: This isn't good if true

...bottom line, an EKU-as well as many FCS athletic programs can not test it's players as frequently as the players would like and deserve. The resources do not exist to do so. What does that mean ? Certainly more opt-outs and strong uncertainty for a 2020 season. I'm not damning coaches or the AD o...

Re: Football in the spring?

...I'm hopeful our season can be played as scheduled. Spring NCAA football is little more than a gimmicky concoction from the suits and the media, including message boards. I hope the WVU game goes off; we badly need the money. And in the end, money/finances will drive decisions now more than ever. ...

Re: Tailgate Expectations

...welcome to the board. As for tailgating, I encourage you to become a member of the Colonel Club as it comes with a parking pass. The best tailgating is pre-homecoming. Large crowds, high enthusiasm, etc. As for this season, no one really knows what to expect; I'm going to keep myself optimistic; ...

Re: A new look at realignment

...if there's no 2020 season, the urge to make waves will be intense. Fact is, there's nothing wrong with NCAA Football or the conferences and the way they're aligned. NCAA Football is a business enterprise and one that at it's highest levels-has been a raging success. Scamdemic or not, I'd leave it...

...tough news.

Fortunately, the players age cohort is such that
they'll likely be OK.

However...there's the spread.

...and I'm not talking point-spread.

Re: Great Article on FCS/FBS Football

Of course, Knoxville-not Nashville is the site of Tennessee's flagship, ergo MTSU isn't comparable-but MTSU has a larger on-campus census than UT Knoxville. ETSU is based in a metro area; the "Tri-Cities" MSA of Bristol, Kingsport, & Johnson City population of over 500K to draw from. Richmond/Madiso...

Re: Great Article on FCS/FBS Football

...the unmentioned gorilla in the room is 25 miles north on I-75. Neither Marshall, MTSU, Appalachian, etc. had to compete with the state flagship in it's backdoor as do we. I'd like to think we could revive the crowds and intensity of Saturdays from the late '70's to the early '90's; but is seems l...

Re: Financial Implications of Canceling the Season

...I want to clarify my central premise. The legislature, not the EKU President/Regents could withhold or strongly encourage fiscal restraint in non-profitable or non-revenue producing athletics. Being an out-of-stater now, I"m not conversant with the Kentucky legislature, but as it's a border south...
