EKU Leads Colonel Classic After Two Rounds

Ragnhildur Kristinsdottir was tied for first after a 4-under first round 68, which tied for the third-lowest individual single-round score in team history.

RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky leads the 2021 Colonel Classic by 11 shots over Cincinnati after two rounds on Monday at the University Club at Arlington.

The final round will begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday. Live scoring will be available at www.GolfStat.com.

Eastern Kentucky’s first-round team total of 286 (-2) tied for the second-lowest single round in program history. Ragnhildur Kristinsdottir was tied for first after a 4-under first round 68, which tied for the third-lowest individual single-round score in team history.

Kristinsdottir had seven birdies during round one. She made the turn at even-par and then shot 4-under over the final nine holes.

EKU carded a second-round team score of 292 for a 36-hole total of 578 (+2). Cincinnati had rounds of 295 and 294 and is 13-over at 589.

Kristinsdottir carded an even-par 72 in round two, and sits in second place with a total of 140. She is five shots behind individual leader Katie Hallinan (135) of Cincinnati.

The course at the University Club at Arlington has a par of 72 and is playing to 5,910 yards.

Diana McDonald (144) is in fourth place after back-to-back rounds of even-par 72. Bailey Hubbard turned in rounds of 72 and 74 and is tied for eighth at 146.

Vilma Efraimsson (148) is tied for 16th. Playing as an individual, Maddie Hensley shot a first-round 1-over 73 and then a second-round 75. She is also tied for 16th at 148.

Cincinnati has a three-shot lead over third-place Akron (592). Butler (593) if fourth and Northern Illinois (594) is fifth. Five shots separate second through fifth. Sixth place Green Bay (600) is six shots out of the top five.

The participating teams are Akron, Ball State, Belmont, Butler, Cincinnati, Cleveland State, Dayton, Eastern Kentucky, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Purdue Fort Wayne, Tennessee Tech, Western Michigan and Wisconsin-Green Bay.
