Field to be named CG Bank Field at Roy Kidd Stadium
RICHMOND, Ky. – Citizens Guaranty Bank and Eastern Kentucky University announced today the signing of an 11-year naming rights partnership for the playing surface at Roy Kidd Stadium. Effective immediately, the EKU football team will now play on CG Bank Field at Roy Kidd Stadium. The agreement provides the university with $1.15 million.
“EKU is grateful for this opportunity to partner with CG Bank. This partnership will strengthen our athletic program, allowing us to invest in our student athletes, our athletic facilities and ultimately in the experience of our entire student body and athletic community,” said EKU President David McFaddin. “The excitement of collegiate athletics enriches the student experience and allows them to make lasting memories of their time at EKU. Athletic events bridges our town and gown relationship as Colonel fans fill the stadiums to cheer on our student athletes. I believe this partnership is yet another step towards the university’s mission of being innovative as we transform the Eastern experience.”
Roy Kidd Stadium has been the home of the Colonel football team since 1969. In 2021, EKU ranked 10th nationally in total attendance and 14th in average attendance, drawing 11,539 fans per contest.
“CG Bank is honored to stand today in partnership with Eastern Kentucky University,” said Kathy Samples, Chairman & CEO of CG Bank. “For 50 years, Citizens Guaranty Bank has worked to help grow with our customers, many of whom have been students, then parents, and now grandparents of kids at EKU. We are happy to join with Eastern in a partnership to strive for excellence in the classroom, on the football field, in our communities, and in the region at large.”
Under the agreement, the name CG Bank Field will appear in several locations throughout Roy Kidd Stadium and on the field.
“This transformational partnership with CG Bank is significant in helping propel the university and EKU Athletics to new heights,” said Vice President and Director of Athletics Matt Roan. “I am particularly impressed by the bold vision of CG Bank’s leadership team, as well as their mission to help customers enhance their lives and achieve their dreams while actively supporting our communities where they live and work. This vision and mission aligns with our own. We are incredibly grateful and proud to join in this partnership to enhance our student-athlete and fan experiences alike.”
This is the first corporate naming rights partnership for an EKU athletics facility.
