RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University football team is lined up to play 12 teams once again in 2014, including two games against Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) programs. EKU has five home games on the schedule highlighted by Homecoming on Oct. 25 against Southeast Missouri.

Eastern opens the season with a Thursday night road game at Robert Morris on Aug. 28. The two teams met for the very first time this past fall in Richmond with the Colonels pulling out a 38-6 victory.

The following weekend, EKU takes on Mid-American Conference opponent Miami (Ohio). This will be the first time in 11 years that the Colonels have lined up against a team from the MAC. That year, Eastern nearly knocked off Central Michigan before falling in the final minute, 42-41.

Eastern Kentucky kicks off its home schedule on Sept. 13 versus Morehead State. EKU has won eight straight in the series including a 56-24 win at Morehead in 2013.

The Colonels begin their OVC schedule with a pair of road games – at UT Martin (Sept. 20) and Austin Peay (Oct. 4) – before hosting two-time defending league champion Eastern Illinois on Oct. 11.

The 2014 Homecoming game features Southeast Missouri on Oct. 25. Eastern Kentucky has won seven straight Homecoming tilts as well as nine of the last 10 match-ups against the Redhawks.

Eastern winds down its OVC schedule with back-to-back home games against Jacksonville State (Nov. 8) and Murray State (Nov. 15). EKU and Murray State concluded the 2013 season with an overtime thriller taken by the Racers, 35-28.

The Colonels will face their second FBS opponent at the end of the regular season when EKU travels to Florida on Nov. 22. Eastern Kentucky has only faced two Southeastern Conference teams in its history – Kentucky (last played in 2009) and Vanderbilt (only meeting in 2004).

The NCAA FCS playoffs begin on Nov. 29 with 16 of the 24 qualifying teams playing in the opening round.

Eastern Kentucky finished the 2013 season 6-6 overall and 4-4 in Ohio Valley Conference action.
