NASHVILLE, Tenn – Eastern Kentucky baseball team kept their winning ways going Friday in Nashville beating the Belmont Bruins 2-1.

All of the scoring for both teams would occur in the third and fourth innings. Daniel McFarland stole home to give the Colonels (10-8, 1-3 OVC) a 1-0 lead. A Doug Teagarden Single would score Luke Starnes giving EKU a 2-0 lead.

Belmont (9-8, 0-1) would score a run in the fourth to cut the lead to 2-1.

Pitching would be key in this game for both teams but lead EKU to the victory. Eric Nerl allowed just one run in eight innings of work while striking out 5 Bruins.

Caleb Johnson came in to close it out in the ninth and picked up his second save of the season.

EKU and Belmont will play game 2 Saturday at 2 pm.
