EKU will kick off their 2024 campaign with an away game in Ohio against the Original Miami University Redhawks. The match is scheduled to start at 7 PM and will be aired on Chatterbox Sports.

EKU is aiming to bounce back after a challenging season last year, where they ended with a 5-8-6 (4-3-4) record and were eliminated in the first round of the ASUN Tourney. EKU was ranked 5th in the ASUN Preseason poll. EKU will have 17 returning players from the 2023 squad, including the 2023 points leader Gretta Gunn, who contributed 1 goal and 5 assists last season. Additionally, EKU will welcome back Paula Herranz, the top goal scorer from last year. Marah Krick will also return as the primary goalkeeper after playing in 17 matches and saving 78.3% of the shots on target.

Miami finished last season with an 8-10-1 (5-6 MAC) record and missed the MAC tourney. However, they ended the 2023 season by winning 4 consecutive matches. Miami was ranked 9th in the preseason poll and is set to bring back 13 players from the previous season. Among those players, Taylor Hamlett stands out for scoring 5 goals and providing 2 assists, leading the Redhawks last season. Dominique Popa will also return as the goalkeeper after featuring in 17 of 19 matches and recording 7 shutouts while saving 75.6% of the shots taken.

In their four previous encounters, Miami has dominated the all-time series against EKU with a 3-1 lead. Their last meeting took place in Oxford last year, where Miami secured a 1-0 victory. Overall, Miami has outscored EKU 7-2 in their matchups.

So being from Cincy originally I have heard of them. They started in Fairfield, Ohio and did local high school football games. I guess they have gotten some money and the Miami contract
