Hotel/convention center

Read that during the President's speech yesterday, they are planning on building a hotel and convention center on campus. There's been rumblings that the hotel has been a done deal for a few months now and they are starting the planning stages for both. Hotels on college campuses are a HUGE money maker. Would just give EKU another great funding source.

Curious to see where it would go. McFadden discussed buildings on campus were going to be torn down yesterday. Obviously Model is being torn down and that huge lot would be an awesome option for away teams playing here.

Model isn't being torn down but being upgraded. From my understanding on conversations here the hotel would go in the EKU Soccer Parking lot.

Also away teams rarely stay in Richmond for reasons. I have seen Ole Miss busses at the Hampton Inn when they were playing UK.

Most teams stay at a full service hotel, they want meeting rooms and the ability to have meals all in the same place. That's why most stay in Lex vs Richmond

My wife saw a post from a day or so ago from a Model teacher saying its at a different location across campus. Not sure what side of campus.

It's been a bit minute since I have heard of plans for Model. So it's possible the renovating plan was scraped for a new location.
