I think there's a chance we could beat EIU because even the worst coached teams win some games that they're not supposed to win. Plus, we have a player everyone says should go to the NBA. Even the worst coach in the nation can’t screw up that kind of advantage in every remaining game.

RealTimeRPI now has every single one of EKU’s wins this season as against a team rated in the 300’s.

Were the numbers of players injured last year not an indication that McHale’s coaching style is prone to injuries therefore requiring the full 13 scholarship bench?

As for speculation about a new coach, I’m almost certain I read somewhere McHale has another year on his contract. As I see it the team will be a better team next year because we don’t lose a whole lot to graduation and Mayo will be a senior next year. We might make it as high as 5th or 6th in the OVC next year and McHale will use the small increase in wins to claim the future looks bright under his leadership allowing the Lock to give McHale another contract. My fear is the following year Mayo (a Neubauer recruit) graduates and we will slide to the bottom of the OVC again.

Let's not forget Neubauer struggled mightily at first as well. Look how that ended for us.

Colonel12, that’s not exactly true. In Neubauer’s first year it’s true he only won 14 games but in Neubauer’s second year at EKU his record was 19 -12. I just looked it up. The team won the OVC tournament that year and went to the NCAA tournament. In year 3 Neubauer won 14 games and in year 4 he had 18 wins and returned to post season play. In year 5 Neubauer won 20 games. In years 6 and 7 it was the only 2 year stretch in his coaching at EKU where he had two consecutive less than good years in a row winning only 15 and 16 games. The last three years (year 8, 9 and 10) he won 25, 24 and 21 games.

In the 10 years Neubauer was at EKU he never had a year as bad as McHale had last year. McHale only had 12 wins last year.

Better next year? I wonder how many more players will leave or be run off by McHale? Why would Mayo stick around if he has an opportunity to go elsewhere? The bright side is - every loss (hopefully) brings Eastern closer to a new coach.

EKU05 mentioned in an earlier post that this team still had some fight left in them, But I sure didn’t see it on a Thursday night. We were dominated by the worst team in the league on our home court. Time to get some people in here that care about EKU and I’m not only talking basketball. I can’t believe it has come to this so quickly

My biggest disappointment with Neubauer was his last game with UT Martin in the CIT. I was at the game. These guys looked like a couple of average high school teams. For the most part, I remember JN's teams being competitive, and did everything pretty well except rebound. Considering how he's done at Fordham though, not sure I want to see him back at EKU.

My biggest disappointment with Neubauer was his last game with UT Martin in the CIT. I was at the game. These guys looked like a couple of average high school teams. For the most part, I remember JN's teams being competitive, and did everything pretty well except rebound. Considering how he's done at Fordham though, not sure I want to see him back at EKU.

Can’t really judge a coach by what they do at Fordham. That place is almost impossible to win at.

I never thought it was a good move for him. He had a good start his first year there, but not so much since. I saw a couple of Fordham's games this season. They looked pretty bad. They don't play with the same intensity as JB's EKU teams, especially on defense. This may be one of the few teams Eastern could beat. JN is below .500 the past 3 years. Although, I think his contract has been extended through 2022.
