A rare chance to renew both of our in-state rivalries!

Two things.

1. I love the instate rivalry games. I actually really like the Morehead game. Is a rivalry game that should get played more.

2. I’m sure I could look it up but what’s the rule for FCS teams to play 12 vs 11 games? I know it only comes up every so many years. Just didn’t know how exactly it worked. Has something to do with Labor Day I just didn’t know

When there are 13 weekends starting Labor Day weekend to Thanksgiving FCS will play a 12 game schedule.

Reasonable men disagree! I respectfully do so with having MSU on our schedule. We are 53-16-4 against them all time. I don't see them as a rival and I think they weaken our year-end resume' ! Selfishly, I don't see what is in it for us. A win is expected and a loss is a disaster! Go Colonels! Class of '70.

You're absolutely correct that a win should be expected, but my opinion is that a well-balanced schedule usually includes at least one of those type of games (at least we aren't playing a D2 team as many schools do). But we have two FBS games where a win is very much not expected, so it kind of evens out in a way that we need it to.

More altruistically, you can look at it as paying it forward. All of the same things that you would tend to say (accurately for sure), could be said by WKU about us. They're playing us and handing us a big check, and we're playing Morehead. I'm assuming we're handing them a smaller check for that one, although I do remember returning a game there once, so I guess I'm not sure.

To put it another way...

Because of the way schedules are made, we're almost definitely going to play one team that we're "supposed to beat." If we're going to do it, it might as well be a team that brings a little nostalgia-based interest like Morehead rather than somebody random.

Will be a fun game ….hope the Eagles brings some fans along to make a good atmospheres….we gotta win it though….was a great rivalry in the 60s…..unfortunately for them their leadership made bigger mistakes than us when it came to Football

All true statements. I know using guns as trophies has kind of fallen out of fashion, but it would be fun to at least come up with a suitable replacement for the Old Hog Rifle. I'm sure there will be some Morehead fans there. They draw pretty darn well by non-scholarship program standards.
