[Maroon Forever]

Bob Martin retired the Old Haag Rifle after we won it back in the first of a long string of wins over Morehead. (Anyone remember the We Beat Morehead Again posters?). Anyway Dr Martin was infuriated after a loss at Morehead when the Morehead student paper ran a photo of him handing the trophy rifle to President Adron Doran. The caption was something like “Dr Doran takes the Old Hawg Rifle from the Hawg himself.”

President Martin had a nick name that I will not mention……what I will mention is that he really was a great leader and found ways to Make EKU grow and prosper

Well said! President Martin cast a Churchill type shadow on our campus! He governed in a tumultuous time! His kind are rare! Dr. Martin had impressive academic credentials and political clout! He loved football and winning! Go Colonels ! My comments are not anecdotal, I was there! Go Colonels.
