Re: AW a Finalist for UIC job
For added context, in the same span, the program has had 8 seasons of 20+ losses. Since 2004 season UIC is 259-373. That is abysmal. It shows no one has had success there or at the minimum sustained success. You go there, your coaching career will have the wheels come off the wagon. So if he goes t...

Re: Transfers
He waits too long and he doesn’t get the job then he’s even further behind on recruiting after they decided not to recruit during the season. I get the portal, but it’s not like he has been amazing out of the portal. A couple hits but way more misses. It’s a big risk on his part if he’s using for l...

Re: Transfers
He doesn’t have much. Which is exactly why he needs to interest of another school to get some. I completely agree with your assessment.

Re: Transfers
I’m hearing that there’s a good chance AWH is just leveraging for more money. The dollars and cents of this move don’t work out in his favor if you factor in cost of living. But even if he goes, college basketball in the portal era isn’t what it used to be. You can lose a team quickly, but you can b...

Re: AW a Finalist for UIC job
With that said, I'm hearing that he might just be leveraging for a raise. Based on their last coach, they don't pay much more than we do, and with cost of living in Chicago it would be functionally a pay cut.

Re: AW a Finalist for UIC job
Honestly, if he's determined to leave, I almost hope he gets it. We're going to be starting fresh from a roster standpoint anyway, and I'd rather just get the new guy in here to build things his own way. I think it just works better from a timing standpoint. If he were likely to be here 3-4 more yea...

Re: Transfers
So, lost first 7 players.. graduation/ transfer portal… ouch! Not that I expect him to return solo to EKU, but doesn't Blanton technically have a COVID year he could still play? I mean, he's gone I'm sure, but I haven't seen anything official yet. There's always the chance that players enter the po...

Re: NIT 2024
It looks like EKU turned down the CBI. CBI has teams with losing records playing in it. As they did last year too, I believe. I think in certain years it makes more sense than others. It was a theoretical good springboard into this season with so much coming back. I think next year we're looking at...
