DENVER – Former Eastern Kentucky University All-American left-hander Christian Friedrich will pitch for the U.S. team in the 12th annual XM All-Star Futures Game during All-Star weekend in Anaheim. The U.S. vs. World game will be held July 11 at 7:00 p.m. at Angel Stadium.

The Futures Game can be seen live on MLB.TV, ESPN2 and ESPN2 HD and followed live on MLB.com’s Gameday. In addition, XM Radio will broadcast play-by-play coverage of the event live on XM 175. MLB.com will also provide complete coverage before, during and after the game.

Friedrich is one of the Colorado Rockies’ best young prospects and was ranked 23rd on the MLB.com Top 50 Prospect list going into this season. The southpaw is currently 1-5 with a 5.34 ERA and has struck out 57 batters in 64 innings of work for the Double-A Tulsa Drillers this season.

The Evanston, Ill. native became the first Colonel ever selected in the first round of the MLB First-Year Player Draft when the Rockies selected him as the 25th overall pick in 2008. That came after a stellar career at EKU in which he hurled a no-hitter as a freshman and was named OVC Pitcher of the Year while compiling a miniscule 1.43 ERA as a junior.
